Vegetables. Organic, of course.

One thing I like about Noe Valley is the earthy, community-oriented mindset, as cheesy as that sounds.

Sure you have the scuppies, ("socially-conscious yuppies" as this photographer I met called them), the yoga fanatics, the coffee snobs, the upscale boutiques, but you also have good food.

There was a Tuesday market outside our apartment in France last year.
Each of Paris's 20 neighborhoods have their own "town-like" feel, and their markets are community meetings places. I was in the 13th arrondissement, and the neighborhood market really did connect me to way of life there.

Everything is so simple in a market: no pre-bagged vegetables, no plastic, no price tags, no debit cards. And the food is cheap.

When I do show up at Noe Valley's market, I can get a huge bundle of bok choy or carrots for $1.
There's also local honey, artisan breads, seasonal fruit, nuts and spices, smoothies and of course, vegetables. Afterwards, I usually go to Noe Valley Bread Co. for a sourdough baguette to complete the "experience". (Baguettes are awesome with Nutella...)

Bon Appétit!

This neighborhood even as a vegatable mural...it would.
